Rejecting Gender-Free Equality, 1977
In this document, it talks about how women shouldn't have to stand being treated differently like men and shouldn't stand for the basic stuff. It demonstrates that women need to talk some control and fight for their rights to become equal like all the men. It talks about opposing ERA because "she knows it would be hurtful to women, to men, to children, to the family, to local self-government, and to society as a whole." It teaches women that many women abolitionists are fighting for their rights right then, but they don't have enough back up and that the plans that are present aren't helping in every way that it should be.
This document is good for the women because it shows that they aren't alone in fighting and they can fight for their rights without being judged. I support this, not only because I am a girl but because it explains perfectly that you shouldn't be scared to stand up for what is right for your own sex and you are never alone. The women during this time period had a lot of strength and willpower to get their rights, especially after the civil rights movement had just been accepted. it doesn't just say "oh do this to get your rights," it explains why you should not support ERA and why you shouldn't put up with the average because you are better than that.

"On The Pulse Of Morning" by Maya Angelou
http://gos.sbc.edu/a/angelou.html
This document is a poem that was written by Maya Angelou and read at the inauguration of Bill Clinton. This poem references the problems that had been plaguing the country during the previous decade: Sexual orientation, events in the Middle East, and religion. These problems contributed to a growing disillusionment among the American people, which Angelou depicts as cynicism. However, Angelou views Clinton as a new hope for the country, ending the poem with "good morning" to represent a new time that will come over the country.
The overall tone of this poem is significant because it shows how tired the public had grown of politicians, and how Clinton was seen as a light at the end of the tunnel, someone who was a do-er and not a say-er, and someone that would pull the U.S. out of the current situation it was in. Clinton, however, did not live up to every ones expectations and ended up entangling the White House in more scandal.

Political Cartoon
http://www.2951clss-gulfwar.com/cartoons/cartoons-4.gif
This political cartoon is showing the Iraqi soldiers, and how they'll never surrender and that they even will go so far to keep egging on the US to keep bombing them. This shows the feelings of American during this time that they would have rather had just withdrawn and not gone to war instead of starting a war within the middle east, as it is just caused trouble and panic within the US.
