Map: Cold War Alignments 1945-1960http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/coldwar1.htm
This map is a depiction of how the world polarized into the two worlds of capitalism and communism after WWII. The Allies are portrayed in their traditional blue while the communists are shown in red. The spheres of influence of the communists and the allies shown, each being a lighter shade of their controller's color.
This map is significant because within the borders of the communist influence there are many countries that are still struggling to develop today, while many of the countries under the allies wings have become prosperous capitalist countries who embrace technology and many of the same liberties that are so valued in America. This shows how the communists left such a lasting impression on their enslaved countries, while the allies helped to build up their spheres of influence to survive completely on their own and to contribute to the world economy.

American Women in the War
http://newdeal.feri.org/er/er14.htm
In this document, Eleanor Roosevelt talks about how women serve their country in the war, without fighting face to face combat. She talks about how women serve in the hospitals around the world, but they haven't had their personal problems looked at. Eleanor Roosevelt looks at how they should respect the women because they are seen as though they are working harder than the men and working harder, even if they are married or not. They are very young, but work harder to prove that they aren't useless in war.
I believe that Eleanor Roosevelt had a good idea about the women since she had seen them all around the world. She saw what was going on and new what needed to happen. I think that it would have been a good idea to give the women more respect for everything that they did in the war, even though they weren't in face-to-face combat. They proved themselves in the back, taking care of those men who were dedicated to serving their country.

This is a picture of an American ship, and it is sinking, most likely because people could not keep their mouth shut and often would drop rumors or other things that could possibly harm the American citizens or prevent them from being as safe as possible.
This is significant because the Lusitania was sunk around this time, and this poster alludes to it, with the a consonance. Also, many Japanese were put into internment camps during this time, and was a result of people spreading words that Japanese were spies, and were listening to everyone and trying to harm the US, so the government was telling the US citizens not to talk too much.

Four Worlds
Politics:
A lot of animosity between USSR and US.
US and Russia was competing with each other to see basically who was better.
Cuban Missile Crisis caused a lot of unrest with Cuba as well
Yalta Conference: A meeting where leaders planned for World War 2 and agreed on the division of Europe.
Potsdam Conference: Conference where leaders discussed the principles for Allied occupation of Europe.
Long telegram, George Kennan: This said that the USSR had to be contained, and that they couldn't let its powers spread out and slowly take over the world.
Social:
Red Scare: People were terrified that Russia had sent in spies, and in turn, were constantly on their heels about spies, and shunned communism. This caused a lot of distrust and fear in the nation.
In the East, people were oppressed, and were constantly being taken advantage of, while in the West, it wasnt as bad.
However, due to this all happening in the east, the people in the west started to rebel.
Cultural:
Jazz: Jazz and other genres of music were affected by the Cold War, for example, Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan released songs such as Masters of War, and A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall, which talked about war and its effects. Jazz was used to represent America, because it was free flowing, and improvised.
Protestors: People started to protest the war, and this actually lead to alot of anti-war movements that occured in the 60s and 70s.
Economic:
Weapons and ammunition were made in bulk in case of a war, which created jobs for the American public.
Rosie the Riveter.
